Last night I had the pleasure of attending a CLASSY little party at The Room. The occasion was the release of Derek Blasberg's first book 'Classy: Exceptional Advice for the Extremely Modern Lady' (Already a New York Times bestseller).
For those of you who haven't heard about Blasberg, (where have you been for the past 3 years?!) he is fashionably ubiquitous penetrating the industry from every direction. He is the editor at large of Conde Nast's Style.com, he writes a regular column in Harper's Bazaar, he is the special projects editor at V Magazine, and regularly contributes to countless other magazines including Vogue and Interview. Blasberg is also well known for his styling and for editing Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen's best selling coffee table book 'Influence'. On top of that Blasberg is a regular fixture at the most exclusive fashion shows and parties, often on the arm of one of his devoted girls who include Margherita Missoni, Emma Watson, Barbara Bush, Kate Bosworth, Jessica Alba, Daphne Guinness, and Julia Restoin-Roitfeld among others.
The book is a delightful guide of how-to's, do's, don'ts, and don't even think about it's. Blasberg provides advice about everything from how to throw a dinner party to how to dress at the airport and even on how to how to shape your eyebrows. His humorous and inspiring guide includes witty anecdotes, quizzes, checklists and visuals all modeled by the beautiful Byrdie Bell (pictured above) who accompanied Blasberg to last night's Room fete.
I have been a big fan of Blasberg's writing for a few years now so it was very exciting to finally meet him and get a taste of the St. Louis, Missouri bred southern boy charm he's so notorious for--and was he ever delicious.
*Special thanks to HG and SG for making it all possible
